Lashes

+ Do eyelash extensions ruin your natural lashes?

The short answer is NO. The long answer is: as long as you are using a highly skilled and trained eyelash technician who uses correct protocol, there should be no damage to your natural lashes. Damage comes from things like, using lashes that are too long or thick for your natural lashes, not isolating the eyelashes properly, using incorrect adhesives, bad application, not caring for your lashes correctly.

All TBB staff are trained thoroughly and follow high industry standards to ensure your lashes are kept healthy. If you have any questions regarding this topic we are always happy to chat with you!

+ I have sensitive eyes, is it okay to get eyelash extensions?

This varies person to person. If you are worried, get in contact with us and we can book in a test patch. This involves placing a few lashes on each eye. The main ingredient in lash adhesive is cyanocrilate, which you can develop sensitivities to over time.

+ Last time i had my eyelashes done i had a reaction. It’s been a few years, is it okay to try them again?

We do not recommend getting eyelash extensions after having a reaction. We have found that once you have had a reaction to the glue, it tends to recur. The main ingredient in lash adhesive is cyanocrilate, which you can develop sensitivities to over time. At this stage there are no adhesives on that market that do not contain this ingredient, even ones labeled as being for sensitive eyes. We suggest trying a lash growth serum like Eyenvy and doing a lash lift and tint instead. Eyenvy takes 2-3 months to kick in but is very effective and makes the lashes longer and thicker. We stock this in the salon and it is our best seller.

+ I want to have my eyelashes done for a special occasion. When should i book my lashes in?

We suggest booking a full set 2 weeks before your event and a refill a couple of days before. It can take a little bit of time to get used to having eyelash extensions so this gives enough time for them to settle, and then them be nice and fresh for your event. When you first get eyelash extensions, caring for them can take some getting used to so the retention isn't as good. Doing it this way means they will be nice and full for your event.

+ I had my eyelashes done and they havent lasted as long as I had hoped. Help!

This can happen for a variety of reasons. Never hesitate to get in contact with us if this happens.

Here are a few reasons this might have happened:

-You are having a lash shed. Your natural lash cycle usually lasts about a month but from time to time you will have a cycle where you lose more lashes than normal. This can be random but can also coincide with the seasons. This is totally normal and nothing to worry about.

-High humidity. Lashes hate high humidity. This can mean that if your lashes were done when the humidity was high, some of the glue may have cured too quickly and caused premature shedding. If this happens, contact us within the first week since your refill and we can do a mini fill.

-You are sleeping on your lashes and they are shedding during the night. Sometimes it can take a few fills before you master the art of sleeping on your back. It comes with time we promise!
